Re: For/in/do question relating to Registry Backup (XP)

Hi GeoffVass, :D Firstly many thanks for the reply, as you say you raise some good points in respect of the registry backup which extend beyond Gud-Ole-WinXP which many would rebuke me for using in the first place but YES you are right because many websites I have looked at extract the registry from...

For/in/do question relating to Registry Backup (XP)

Hi All, I was wondering whether a kindly soul would help me out with a interesting section of batch code (for XP as far as I know) which employs for-in-do, it backs up registry keys the code & is as follows, I found it elsewhere on the net but it does have potential: @echo off setlocal set BackupFol...

Re: Survey Popup - RESULTS

Hi folks :D , I'm sorry that this request survey slipped under the radar for me, I would have liked to put forward additional suggestions for small ASM/debug scripts that would compliment batch-files in both Dos & CMD. I think Debug is present in OS's up to Windows7 Me thinks, along with a more rece...

Re: Problem with variable Drive setup for XP/W98SE

Hi folks :D Just to give an update to where I am up to with trying to write a batch file that is both compatible in XP & Windows 98SE, Although I think with the right skill set it can be done, I have decided to write respective batch files for each OS and branch with a "goto" :label to make things m...

Re: Problem with variable Drive setup for XP/W98SE

Just reporting back with feedback :D @ Saso As Jeb has stated %CD% is affiliated to Win-XP as is "cd /d" also (without quotes & just for info) these nuances are a little bit confusing, when attempting to write batch files for NT & Dos. Anyway - @ Penpen tried your script in XP it very briefly opened...

Re: Problem with variable Drive setup for XP/W98SE

Hi Folks :D , I think I may have a solution to this problem I have adapted a script which I have found on PC-Mag article which I think was in the main for 9X but it seems to work reasonably well in XP as well even though it uses command.com rather than native CMD (& one other caveat it reports back ...

Re: Equivalent 9XDos code to NT Find bat/cmd path %~dp0

Sorry in addition I forgot to also mention as a P.S. I found this Web page link entitled - "DOS Remove Linefeed And Carriage Return ?" if you scroll to the second post by a person that goes by the handle of MechaniX2Go. Your quote - You should check, if the environment variable TMP is initialized correctly (to a path with read/write permission). Ans not sure how you do this but wo...

Re: Equivalent 9XDos code to NT Find bat/cmd path %~dp0

Hi Penpen & Eureka, Many thanks for sharing your knowledge firstly... @Eureka - I tried to use the truename as outlined here: https://www.robvanderwoude.com/truename.php - but it only returns the same information in SFN format C:\MYDOCU~1\ZERO.BAT. I have thought of piping the output through ODI's L...
