The old command I just copied off the net
The old command that you copied, must be quite old. Mine contains a 7zG.exe. That program file folder contains a "History.txt" file. If you browse that and search for '7za' you will see how many years ago the file was removed from the package. I am guessing that new function is rolled out by a new 7z?.exe which is dropped after it is incorporated into the 7z,exe proper.

@thefeduke: I think you misinterpreted what has happened.
The file "7za.exe" is the "Standalone-Konsole" of 7-Zip.
It was removed from the "7-Zip" package on 2005-11-18, but added to another package
It is still available for the actual version, see "7-Zip Extra" package:
