Could we have a Bash section?

I like the community here, and I don't want to change forums. But I'd like a Bash section, since I usually am not on Windows.
Maybe have it as like a sub-section or something, or at least a sticky thread for it? Plz? ◕‿‿◕

Have you noticed the URL for this website? (if you haven't, it is dostips.com)
You could possibly (if you really MUST have a bash thread) start a ".webs.com" website that is a link here.

But this is a DOS Batch Forum, not bash. We use Windows, which hopefully you have come to realize is superior.

off-topic, Looking just at the facts, most devices sold commercially seem to run linux, the server market is also dominated by linux.
This has everything to do with some bad choices MS has made in the past.
MS decided to no longer deliver the OS as a shell on-top of dos.
The effect is that if the GUI were to crash, the system has to reboot.

Linux is a shell, if the GUI were to crash, it's easily restarted without rebooting.
Linux does not focus on speed but on safety.
This becomes visible if you use the ext3 file-system, which uses some simple but genius techniques to secure consistency ( you can suffer a power failure while copying without having to chkdsk ! ). Also fragmentation is a problem, unknown to linux.

Windows performs well on the hardware level, but this has more to do with "the driver war" than programming qualities.

Yes, there may be some hardware superiorities, but if you want to go into market shares, then here is some information:
Linux- Has existed for almost as long as modern windows- only about 5% of market share.
Which leaves, my linux-supporting friend, about 80% of the market share to Windows (calculating in Macintosh).

And that is only statistics. Windows is far more layed-out and supportive of other software. I had Linux Ubuntu for 2 days and gave up after that period due to the lack of file searching capabilities. Also, there is the pathetic Ubuntu Software Centre. If something is not there, there is no easy way to obtain files and even if you manage to be able to download something, lack of file viewing capabilities.. One cannot view their downloaded files.

There is no offence intended, I just wanted to correct Ed.

Linux/UNIX is superior, if you aren't a pleb who couldn't organise a piss-up at a brewery. Windows holds most of the market share, because Microsoft has money to throw at advertising, and it's got tools that do everything for you. Linux/UNIX users don't like things to be done for them, because it won't be done the way they want it. Plus, Linux/UNIX isn't constantly under attack from viruses and hackers, because Windows users are more common to come across, and quite frankly, tend to be the ones who don't understand what a firewall is, etc.

Kind regards,

Just because you Linux/UNIX users are speds who just aren't man enough to take on the advertising market.
We are the ones who actually do stuff and take part in things, not just sit in a dark room feeling safe and secure without you big, scary viruses. We may have a minor percentage of people who are
pleb who couldn't organize a piss-up at a brewery.
but then again we get people setting up Wikipedia and Google on Windows and 85% of people in the entire goods trading world using Windows.

So hence my original statement, Windows is supirior.

Oh, and by the way, I am using Windows to run the Mozilla Firefox to post this message.

PS- This forum is about MS-DOS. There is also MS Windows. So if you don't like it, don't use it.

Getting back on topic...

I actually wouldn't mind having a Bash section. This website has helped me a bunch with learning DOS and I feel it could do the same for be with Bash. Maybe not under the same URL as www.dostips.com, but run by the same people. Maybe the URL can be www.bashtips.com or something.

That is reasonable, but just not on this forum, because it would clutter the forum (it is just rubbish, anyway, we don't want rubbish on a great forum, do we?). I have nothing against having a link to another website on bash (make the hyperlink as big as the "report abuse" button :) ).
