Nid Help in DOS 5 commands

I need commands for string manipulation that are available in Windows 98 DOS 5.0. I'm working on concatenating and trimming of quotes in strings..
Hope you can help me...

windows 98 comes with the windows scripting host version 1.0. you can make use of that to write vbscript.
