DIRCMD

#1 Post by Squashman » 12 Aug 2015 12:10

I cannot figure out why my files do not sort alphabetically by default. The %dircmd% variable is not even defined so it should default to outputting the files alphabetically. I can't even figure out what order it is putting them out by default.

Is it a FAT32 formatted drive, squashman?

They don't sort alphabetically - it's a feature of NTFS that does that.

I just noticed everything sorts fine on my C: drive.
W: is a network storage device made by EMC.
Not sure what file system that uses.

It's not likely to be FAT32, but *nix of some kind and doesn't support sorted directories.

Does the same thing with the FOR command as well. Guess I will have to resort do DIR /ON for anything that looks at that storage drive.
