Many thanks Phil.
Very nice cmd version.
This is an more earlier version than the called Win95cmd.

You know other rare cmd.exe versions?

as far as I know there is the cmd.exe only since the NT family.
What I found was a CD with Windows 98 startup. The folder was for NT - but that was just some update CD.
I think it was a service pack in which this file was to be found.
My (virtual) Windows 98 has no cmd.exe but only a Command.exe.

I can scour Windows ME again. I only have it as pbf (partition Backup File).
Let's see how I get this on the modern box to work.
I will install a win95 to see.

Hi carlos,
from CD: security9_deu

Code: Select all

Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 6.02.9200]
(C) Copyright 1985-2000 Microsoft Corp.
cmd.exe 249.104 bytes 19.06.2003 12:05 CRC32 96AE93D7
W2K_SP4_DE_cmd_exe.rar
(80.35 KiB) Downloaded 837 times
I actually found a bit (time). Well, gold dust.
I had ordered this one at Microsoft.
Windows Security Update CD February 2004.This was in the W2Ksp4_DE.CAB.
I extracted it, expanded it and immediately packed it into a rar.

Thanks Phil.
Thanks for sharing it. Is a good version (sp4 5.0.2195.6656).
What about a unofficial sp5 for windows 2000, it comes with (5.0.2195.6995) ? But I not know if this unofficial service pack was used by sysadmins.

I found that Win95cmd.exe not supports Unicode.
Win95cmd.exe /U prints:
The unicode output option to CMD.EXE is not supported by this
version of the operating system.

Win98cmd supports Unicode, but it not comes with delayed expansion.
