Be aware of BAD LINKS in FORUM POSTs and PM!

#1 Post by admin » 20 Jan 2010 23:02

We are currently looking into forum improvements to combat the BAD guys that send bad links via PM or forum posts.

As admin we track forum posts and delete everything suspicious. However we are not scanning thought any PM messages, so this is more tricky.

One quick action we could take is to disable PM altogether, to avoid spam and bad links being send out that way.

Let us know your opinion and vote, even if you don't care
Optionally respond to this post.

Best regards!

I want none of the suggested options.

I have received 2 spams from different people this month.
One posted 2 days after he joined, the other posted 1 day after joining.

I suggest that new members be automatically blocked for one month from sending PM.
That delay may discourage them and send them to softer targets.

This is similar to treatment of headache with a guillotine :)

For beginners need to disable the ability to send messages when they use the bbcode [url], but they have less, for example 5 of poisoned messages.

Thanks guys for your suggestions.

With the new forum new users can't send PM until some contribution criteria are met. Hope this takes care of the spam for now.

There are also new buttons next to each post where everybody can easily report a post with a single click.

:)

Excellent work - and much quicker than I expected.
